Steps in fabric painting

My article will be helpful to those interested in art work. Some say art as god’s gift. But I believe it’s purely based on interest and patience. Here are some basic steps for beginners and some tips for those who know it already.

Muslin cloth is good for practice. Wash it to remove starch, dry, iron to free from wrinkles.
For beginners it’s good to choose some floral pattern. Trace the design with carbon sheet. Yellow carbon is preferable since it will not show the impression after painting.
Use wooden frame to clasp cloth firmly. Mount the picture to the centre of the frame.
Use 000 ziana deluxe brush for good result. The number shows the degree of fineness of the bristles.
Now apply white colour (fabric acrylic colours) to a petal as base colour, then take appropriate colour suitable for the petal. Dip paint in the tip of the brush and give upward strokes over the white colour before it dries. Dip only once for a petal to get shade in gradient.strokes should be done in free hand, which you will get in practice.
Repeat the same for all petals.
For leaves use lemon yellow for base and olive green or dark green to shade over.
Now your picture is beautifully done.

Now you can paint your dresses, bedspreads and curtains and add charm to your households.

Tips to follow:

Dry fabric in shade for 24 hours after painting. Iron fabric in reverse direction before washing for life.
Be careful not to spill paint in the rest in material since it can’t be removed easily.

Linen is antistatic. It is especially recommended for children who are sensitive to those scary static shocks.
Linen absorbs moisture well. It can absorb up to 20% or more of its own weight in moisture, while still feeling dry to the touch. Linen also absorbs the moisture rapidly, which makes it wonderful for bath-time.
Over time, linen becomes softer and even more comfortable. Linen resists wear and tear much better than other fibers, so it will last longer than garments accessories made from cotton or artificial fabrics.
Linen resists stains like no other fabric and is completely washable at both high and low temperatures, without losing any of its excellent properties, texture or shape.

Chenille Is the Ultimate Baby Fabric

Chenille Is the Ultimate Baby Fabric

Chenille is a form of weaving that results in one of the softest textures of all. Tapestries made from chenille require delicate handling, but are tactilely interesting and more touchable than any other type of tapestry.

Chenille is actually the French word for caterpillar. The word in common parlance is used now to describe the type of fabric; in this case, for the procedure by which it is made.

Chenille is manufactured by wrapping short lengths of fabric, called “piles,” around a tightly wound core of yarn. When the edges of these piles stand at right angles from the yarn’s core, the chenille gains its soft, characteristic texture and appearance. Chenille can even look iridescent at times. It commonly is manufactured from cotton, but versions using acrylic, rayon and olefin exist and are not quite as easily damaged.

The process for making chenille is complex and must be done expertly for a strong thread that gives the appearance of being made from fine filaments. Good chenille thread can be used as needed for different applications – woven into fabric by whatever means necessary to produce throws, upholstery, carpets, rugs and wall hangings.

The History of Chenille

As well as textile historians can determine, chenille-type yarn first appeared on the scene sometime during the eighteenth century. Hand woven tapestries and throws of chenille quickly became popular due to the silky soft texture and near iridescence of the material. By the nineteenth century, the Jacquard loom had revolutionized the tapestry weaving industry, and Jacquard woven chenille wall hangings began to gain popularity.

The Art Nouveau movement gave a new look to the world of tapestry art. Reproductions of paintings in the stylistic form were easily translated to the loom, and many people opted for the warmer look of fabric wall hangings over the sterility of framed prints. Mass production on mechanized looms has made these works of art readily available.

The idealized figures, detailed backgrounds and decorative borders of Art Nouveau done in soft chenille thread makes these tapestries a perfect addition to almost any home. The decor can be as lush or as modernistic as desired – tapestries are the perfect fit for every type of interior layout. For those who prefer a more Renaissance style feel, castles and coats of arms lend a medieval flavor to a room.

Soft or Bold – Chenille Tapestries Cover all Styles

Francois Boucher was a noted French painter who specialized in religious and pastorally themed art; his works translate smoothly to the woven medium and are often reproduced in chenille. His rococo paintings featuring idyllic landscapes and romantic scenes are the favorite of many designers looking for a Louis XV influence. One or more of these tapestries can easily be used as the inspiration behind study, library or parlor.
For those who prefer a more focused attraction, a tapestry illustrated with a bird, butterfly or even a piece of fruit can provide contrast to minimalist furniture and neutral colors. These subjects provide a splash of color that draws the eye and brings a sense of the outside world into an austere room. The use of chenille to soften sharp edges in otherwise stark surroundings can completely alter the mood of the space! It suddenly makes the room touchable and friendly, even if your choice of furnishings and colors are somewhat cool.

Simpler patterns come across nicely in chenille as well. Celtic designs are favorites of many interior decorators, providing a vast array of motifs and colors to choose from. These tapestries will work well in almost any setting, and provide a nice backdrop to a busy room. French designs have a more floral appearance, with stylized images on a contrasting background. Native American motifs are becoming more popular as well, with bold colors and geometric designs.

Hanging Chenille Tapestries

Hanging properly is very important with chenille tapestries – a solid pocket sewn across the back and reinforced with sturdy fabric is best, as chenille can stretch and hang awkwardly if individual hanging loops are used. An ornate rod may be desired to complement the natural beauty of these tapestries, and can be hung on brackets. Choose a style that will complement the tapestry itself – a heavy rod for bold graphics or a more delicate one for softer designs.

Chenille is the perfect medium for tapestries; this textile makes your wall hangings even more unique and you are sure to receive plenty of compliments. Consider exploring the soft and silky side of wall art the next time you are inspired to do a room makeover!

Entrusting Your Linen Fabric to Long Island Laundry Service

Entrusting Your Linen Fabric to Long Island Laundry Service

Trust is hard to gain and retain. Trust is also difficult to give to strangers. People in Long Island know exactly what I’m talking about because they almost always find it hard to find a reliable laundry service. There are lots of companies offering laundry services in Long Island so it’s not easy to choose which one to put your trust on.

Laundry service firms use washing machines in cleaning massive garments. As for linen, linen service companies in New York use a gentler approach to maintain the best look of your linen cloth. These linen service companies value your linen for they know its importance, especially if it was just rented from a trusted linen rental in Long Island. One can get the best quality of linen in Long Island and with the help of a reliable laundry service in NY, you can prolong the life of this expensive fabric.

As expensive as it is, linen is considered one of the oldest woven fabrics in history. It originates from the fibers of flax and once used by the royal family. Purple linen was used as the main material for the King’s robe. Do you know that linen was also mentioned in the Bible? It’s written there that linens are used as coverings in the Tabernacle and Temple, and references to fine linen are found throughout.

Modern garments made from linen are so expensive because manufacturing linen is costly not to mention it entails a complicated weaving process. Linen advantageously absorbs dye easily so it can come in many different colors. It is a lightweight fabric thus making it suitable for spring and summer wear. It looks crisp, cool and neat even on the warmest days.

Though ideal, linen also has some imperfections. One of its negative qualities is the tendency to crease. Sit down in linen slacks and horizontal creases appear across the front.

Aside from being subject to wrinkles, ironing linen also requires great effort. Your iron must be very hot and should have a steam setting. Otherwise, you will need to pepper the fabric with water to create steam. A light spray starch can also be used on linen. Reverse linen before ironing it or use a pressing cloth to prevent creating shiny spots.

Some clothing pieces made from linen are the following: slacks, dresses, suits, coats, and blazers. Table cloth and bed sheets are other items also made of linen. It also has industrial purposes such as luggage and upholstery furniture manufacture. Apart from its elegance, its versatility makes linen a widely-used fabric.

For best results, linen must be treated with proper care. It should hang in a closet instead of being folded inside a drawer. Linen fibers have a tendency to break if folded too often. Linen is also prone to wear and tear if washed improperly.

Fabric Paintings : Play With Colors on Fabric

Fabric Paintings : Play With Colors on Fabric

Fabric painting is a unique form of painting that finds vibrant expression on the fabrics. Painting on fabrics has now become a popular homemade handcraft and is practiced by many whether as a hobby or as a part of livelihood. With simple techniques and procedures alluring paintings can be carved out in an affordable cost. It is due to these reasons this painting has a demanding market nowadays.

Fabric Painting

This painting is used in vogue in men shirts, ladies kurties, hand bangs, cushion covers , curtains, upholsteries, wall hangings and more. You need not have to be very adept in painting to become a fabric painter. What you require are some creative skills and sound knowledge on the various methods of fabric paintings. The rest happens automatically.

This is all about mixing colors and applying heat in proportions. The work of a fabric painter is like that of a chemist mixing colors and perceiving the reactions. The fun lies in the fact that he or she should know what amount of color and heat to use in order to create a particular form of painting. The most popular are batik painting, dyeing, shibori, silk-screening, watercolor painting and layering.

Dyeing is one of the most common and simple forms of fabric painting. In dyeing some parts of a fabric are tied and merged into colored dye solutions while some other parts are abstained from dyeing. When folded in a particular shape, this helps to form a design integrating the colored and the uncolored segments. Batik Painting made by blending wax and dye is one of the most favored among the fabric paintings.

Having its origin in the Indonesian island of Java, batik painting mesmerizes with its unusual tapestry, ensemble of colors and freedom of art. In Batik painting first the fabric is waxed, then dyed and finally de-waxed. Shibori is a typical Japanese tie-dye painting that lures with its creases, pleats, stitches, loops and colorful motifs. This type of painting is a bit complex and involves a series of processes like stitching, folding, creasing, dyeing, pleating and embroidering.
